Join Superintendent Dr. Maggie MacIsaac for a ”year in review” and a preview of the Board and District’s direction and plans for the 2012-2013 school year.

For the 2012-13 school year, State law requires that all incoming 7^th-12^th graders get a whooping cough booster shot, called Tdap, before entering school. Students who have not received this booster shot prior to the beginning of the school year will not be allowed to start school.

We encourage you to contact your child’s doctor now to schedule an immunization appointment and provide the school with proof of the booster shot. Some children may qualify for free immunizations through the Vaccines for Children Program.

Pertussis, also known as whooping cough, is widespread throughout California. This vaccine can help keep your child and family protected.

Since Fall 2011, BIS administrators, counselors, and staff have been working diligently in conjunction with School Site Council and Student Council on initiatives to promote safety and tolerance within our student body.  On behalf of the organizers, I would like to take this opportunity to share the progress of our recent activities and to summarize our key findings.

At the end of February 2012, the student and parent communities of BIS were surveyed on how best to improve our current PBL program.  Both students and parents were requested to select the best format for future PBLs by considering different options – eliminate, keep the same, or modify.
