The purpose of the BIS Student Council is:
- To represent the students of each homeroom at the Council meetings;
- To bring about closer cooperation between the faculty and the student body as representatives of the student body;
- To cooperate with the administration with problems concerning the school and the student body;
- To promote in each individual at BIS a desire for good citizenship based on democratic processes;
- To create and maintain school interest, school spirit, and loyalty;
- To provide a forum for student concerns.
The members of the Student Council shall be representatives elected by their homerooms. Elections for representatives will be held at the beginning of the school year.
Student Council Projects for Spring 2013
Project Title: Stories of Bullying
Presentation date: March 2013
Group leader: Charlie Jones
Focus of project: Presentations of stories from those who have been the victims of bullying. The purpose of the project is to communicate the perspective of those who have been victims of bullying, and to make students aware of the ways in which bullying has affected victims.
Project Title: CST Test Prep Films
Presentation date: March 2013
Group Leaders: Rachel Battersby and Tyler Vanderley
Focus of Project: A film demonstrating how to properly prepare for the CST. The film aims to help students feel more prepared and more motivated to succeed on the CST.
Project Title: Respect Films
Presentation date: Feb./March 2013

Focus of project: A series of short films highlighting what respectful behavior looks like in classrooms, common areas, and on the bus.
Project Title: International Food Day

Focus of project: To learn about and celebrate a variety of cultures, and to enjoy food from those cultures.
